We at the Dome are proud to have followed this wonderful series from Day 1. We are sad that it was cancelled, and sadder that AMC failed to capitalize on properly developing a series that gave us such strong female characters, and the wonderfully unique Stephen Holder, one of the best TV characters to come along in a long time.
Of all the series we follow, this one always created the most discussion and interest. It was smart, it made us think. It made us cry and laugh. Who knew we would come to love a death row inmate and ratty street kids. It gave us the finest episodes on TV this year.
The loss of The Killing is the loss of a series created and led by women. It was equal in quality to AMC’s best series, but it was never nurtured like them. The series AMC has aired since The Killing are nowhere near the same. When Breaking Bad and Madmen end, the era of thoughtful TV drama is over at AMC. They just killed the last of their golden dramas, and the only one where the journey of the “strong white man leader” is not the main purpose of the series.
